In 1989, Godfrey won The Stevie Wonder Award for Best Male Gospel Choir Soloist; this gave him the privilege to both meet and share the stage with the maestro himself during his appearance at Birmingham’s NEC.

Godfrey is involved in a substantial amount of studio recording sessions for various artists and during his singing career he has worked alongside popular artistes such as; The Winans, (Father and Uncles of Mario Winans), Commissioned, Billy Gaines, Michael Bolton, Boyzone and Heather Small.
